What Overtype is
Overtype is a Chrome extension (and any future web version) for editing PDF files on your own device. It is provided by Overtype. If you need to reach us, email support@overtype.app.
Your files
Overtype never uploads, transmits, or stores your documents on our servers. All processing happens locally on your device. Overtype never modifies the original file you open; saving always writes a new file.
You are responsible for keeping your original files and for reviewing any edited, redacted, or converted document before relying on it or sending it to anyone.
Redaction and verification
Overtype removes text you select and checks the file for it afterwards. However, no automated check can guarantee that sensitive content is absent from every part of every PDF. For example, embedded attachments or unusual encodings might not be caught.
You must review redacted documents yourself before distribution to make sure nothing sensitive remains.
Free tier and Pro
The free tier includes 10 exports per calendar month. After that, exports still work but carry a small "Edited with Overtype" line in the page margin.
Pro is a one-time purchase that removes the export limit and the mark. Pro is activated with a license key that is verified on your device. The license is for your personal use on devices you control and may not be resold or shared publicly. We may issue updated keys if the format changes.
Refunds
We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee, no questions asked. To request a refund, email support@overtype.app from the email address you used to purchase Pro.
No warranty
The software is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that it will be error-free, that every PDF can be edited, or that output will open in every reader.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the software is limited to the amount you paid for Pro in the twelve months before the claim (zero for free users). We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or data-loss damages.
Acceptable use
Do not use Overtype to break the law, forge documents, or infringe others' rights. You are responsible for the documents you edit.
Third-party services
Payments are handled by Stripe under their terms. The Chrome Web Store distributes the extension under Google's terms. We do not control those services.
Changes and governing law
We may update these terms from time to time. The current version is always available at this URL.
These terms are governed by the laws of [STATE]. If you have questions, email support@overtype.app.
